whoo.. ok.... brand new year! brand new blog! And this time I think I'll do much better because what I had before is just...well...everythings just slaped together, it's kinda annoying.

But anyway.....

It's still my blog so I guess I'll try to improve it when I have the time.

THE END....or is it?

Disregard the first proposal.
The idea was to show Tsung Tsai and his journey as an illustration. The first part of the series would show a younger version of Tsung Tsai as a portrait and behind him would be his past. The second would show the present Tsung Tasi, a portrait, in the backround his future or what happened. The third part would have Tsung Tsai and George Crane and images of people and places seen by them.

Proposal for Final:
I'm not sure how to begin this project. I first thought of illustrating certain scenes I had found interesting in the book, but that idea was shot down, not entirely though.... Then I thought maybe I could use a map and the Chinese compass (feng shui, mentioned in the book)as a collage to interpret Tsung Tsai's journey.......using illustrations.? I'm still not quite sure how I want to approach this project. This is what I've come up with so far...

The colors of this artwork look natural. There is very small evidence of intense color, such as the blue and green, but most of the painting is made out of neutralized colors.

The gold color stands for the sun os fire. The white color stands for purity. Red represents the energy life force. Blue represents all things such as eternity, truth, devotion, faith, purity, chastity, peace, spiritual and intellectual life. The color black stands for primordial darkness, transcended worlds, hate and ignorance, imminenence of the absolute, and the threshold of the experience.

My response to the color of the painting is cultural. Imediately after looking at these colors I was in awe. I had never seen anything like it before. Just by looking not only at the color, but the figures as well, their is a lot of cultural symbolism within the painting. I became very curious about this culture.
